In June 2023, I had the privilege of representing India at the London Design Biennale. Working alongside Studio Archohm and The Design Village, we constructed the Indian Pavilion at Somerset House. The pavilion featured a distinctive facade adorned with terracotta cups made from Indian soil. These cups offered visitors a unique tactile experience, allowing them to physically connect with India. Inspired by the traditional Indian "charpai" woven daybed, our pavilion transformed into a stunning urban sculpture. Standing tall at Somerset House, it provided shade while basking in the British sun. The intricate weave of the charpai created a mesmerizing play of light and shadow, evoking the lively atmosphere of an Indian street market, or "chowk." This captivating display served as a tribute to contemporary Indian cityscapes.
